Brow lamination or wax and tint: which should you book?
Compare shape, colour and hair direction to choose the brow service that does what you actually want.

The useful bit
Waxing addresses shape, tint addresses colour and lamination addresses how the existing brow hairs can be styled.
Work out which part of your brows you want to change
Do you want the edges tidied, more visible colour or a different direction to the hairs? Those are three different requests, and they do not all need the same appointment. The easiest starting point is to describe the problem you notice in your own mirror.
Perhaps the shape already suits you but the tails look pale. Perhaps you like the colour but want the edges cleaned up. Or perhaps the hairs point in different directions and you want a more styled finish. Tell the artist that before deciding on a treatment name.
What wax and tint are designed to do
Waxing removes unwanted hair to refine the outline. Tint adds colour to the existing hairs. Together, they can offer a shape and colour refresh without a lamination treatment. Talk through how much hair you want to keep and how defined you want the outline to appear.
If you like your natural hair direction and mostly want a tidy, a standard wax and tint may be the conversation to start with. If you want colour only, look at the separate options on the Flirty brow menu rather than assuming every service must include shaping.
What brow lamination changes
Lamination makes existing brow hairs easier to reposition for a styled effect. It does not create new hairs. HD Brows also explains that laminated hairs still need brushing into place; the service does not permanently fix them into one position.
At Flirty, brow lamination includes wax and tint in a 45-minute appointment. Explain whether you want a softly groomed look or a more brushed-up finish. If you have gaps, ask what can realistically be achieved with the hairs you already have.
| What you want to change | Service to discuss |
|---|---|
| Untidy edges | Brow shaping or wax |
| Pale-looking hairs | Brow tint |
| Shape and colour together | Wax and tint |
| Hair direction and a styled finish | Brow lamination, with suitability checked first |
Consider your skin and recent treatments
Tell the studio about current irritation, previous reactions and the skincare products or treatments used around your brows. HD Brows’ own aftercare advice flags exfoliating and anti-ageing products around brow appointments. That is a reason to discuss your routine, rather than to stop a prescribed treatment on your own.
A product manufacturer’s instructions may differ from another brand’s. Ask the studio what applies to your chosen service, including the relevant testing, any preparation and the timing around other beauty appointments. The patch-test guide explains why a previous tint test is not automatically clearance for a different service.
Choose something you will enjoy maintaining
Ask how to brush and care for the brows at home, and what to expect as the effect changes. If your ideal morning routine is very short, explain that. A finish you enjoy styling each day is a better fit than a look you only like immediately after leaving the salon.
Compare all the options and current costs on our brow price list. If you are considering a longer-lasting pigment treatment instead, start with the permanent-brow consultation; it is a separate service with its own assessment, rather than another name for lamination.
