The Flirty journal · Before you book
Your first lash appointment: how to prepare and what to ask
A practical first-visit checklist covering treatment choices, patch tests, makeup, contact lenses and your diary.

The useful bit
Confirm the right service and patch test first, then arrive with a clear idea of the finish you want and time for the full appointment.
Choose the appointment before choosing the time
It is tempting to book whichever slot fits your lunch break, but first check the service itself. A lift works with your own lashes, while extensions add fibres. Within extensions there are different styles, and an infill is intended for an existing set rather than a first full application.
Read our lift and extension comparison and the treatment descriptions. If you are not sure what to choose, contact the studio with your goal and any lashes you already have. It is easier to allocate the right time before the booking is confirmed.
Arrange the relevant patch test
Flirty asks new clients to allow at least 48 hours between the relevant patch test and treatment. Confirm which test is needed for your chosen service, particularly if you are considering a lift with tint or a combined lash and brow visit.
Mention any previous reactions or current irritation before booking. Read what a patch test can and cannot tell you rather than assuming that a clear result guarantees a reaction-free treatment. If you have had a test elsewhere, ask Flirty whether it needs to carry out its own assessment.
Prepare a useful reference
Bring a photograph if it helps explain what you like, then point out the details. “Soft at the tips”, “defined without looking heavy” and “not too long at the corners” give an artist more to work with than simply asking for dramatic lashes.
Be equally clear about what you do not want. Your natural lashes influence what can be achieved, so treat the photograph as a discussion rather than an exact specification. Our style guide can help you describe the difference between definition, texture and fullness.
Check makeup and contact-lens arrangements
Ask the studio how it would like you to arrive. Clean lashes without eye makeup give the artist a useful starting point. London Lash Salon’s preparation guidance asks clients to arrive without eye makeup and remove contact lenses before lash treatments; check Flirty’s own instructions for your appointment.
If you wear lenses, ask whether you should bring glasses and a lens case. Tell the studio if keeping your eyes closed or lying in one position is difficult for you, so you can discuss practical arrangements in advance. During treatment, speak up if you feel discomfort instead of trying to wait it out.
Give the appointment enough room
Check the listed duration on Fresha and leave room in your day for the visit. A lash appointment is not a helpful place to schedule an urgent call or a tight departure deadline. Tell the studio in advance if your timing changes.
Flirty Studios is at 7 The Walk, just off Billericay High Street. Use the visit page for directions and contact details. If you have an access requirement or need help finding the studio, contact the team before your visit rather than relying on an assumption about the entrance.
Ask four questions before you leave
Confirm how to clean and look after the treatment, when water and makeup can be used, what to do if something feels wrong, and which appointment to book next. Ask for the answers to be written down if that will help.
For extensions, our daily aftercare guide and infill guide cover the next steps. For a lift, use the lash-lift aftercare guide. The instructions for the treatment you receive take priority over general advice.
